Hamid H Azad
Hamid Azad has over forty years of experience in dawah, charity, and community development. Throughout his career, he has designed and implemented relief and development programmes while promoting dawah al-Deen globally. He has held a number of senior leadership roles within international non-governmental organisations (INGOs).
He currently serves as the Central President of the Muslim Community Association (MCA), a pan-European dawah and community organisation. He also served for four years as a member of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).
Hamid possesses extensive knowledge of community issues, with particular expertise in addressing the needs of diverse faiths, cultures, and ethnic groups through targeted and inclusive approaches. He previously held the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at both Muslim Aid and Muntada Aid.
He was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in 2003 and currently practises law in the areas of charity, corporate, and family law, as well as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
In 2016, he served on the organising committee of the World Humanitarian Summit, convened by the United Nations. He has been actively involved in numerous community and voluntary organisations and is currently a trustee of the East London Mosque and the London Muslim Centre. He also serves as an overseas trustee and advisor to a number of educational and policy institutions.
In addition, Hamid served as Chair of the Islamic Forum Trust for four years and has been a Strategic Advisor to McAndrew Leadership for many years. He has travelled to more than 60 countries in support of dawah and community development initiatives.
