Honoring Our Scholars: Lifetime Achievement Awards



At MCC Convention 2026, the Muslim Circle of Canada is honored to recognize two distinguished scholars with Lifetime Achievement Awards: Shaikh Ahmad Kutty and Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick. This recognition celebrates their decades of dedication to Islamic scholarship, community service, education, spiritual guidance, and the strengthening of Muslim communities in Canada and beyond.

Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient


Shaikh Ahmad Kutty is one of Canada’s most respected Islamic scholars and a long-serving teacher, jurist, and community leader. Over more than five decades, he has provided guidance to Muslim communities through his teaching, writing, counselling, interfaith engagement, and well-reasoned responses to contemporary questions of Islamic life.


Educated in the traditional Islamic sciences in India and at the Islamic University of Madinah, Shaikh Kutty later pursued graduate studies in Canada. He has served in major leadership roles, including at the Islamic Centre of Toronto and the Islamic Foundation of Toronto, and continues to serve as a resident scholar and senior lecturer at the Islamic Institute of Toronto. His contributions to Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, spirituality, and community development have made him a trusted source of knowledge for generations of Muslims.


MCC recognizes Shaikh Ahmad Kutty for his lifelong commitment to making Islamic knowledge accessible, relevant, and rooted in wisdom, compassion, and service.

Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick


Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient


Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick is a renowned historian, scholar, educator, social activist, and religious leader whose work has reached communities across the world. With a background in Islamic studies from the Islamic University of Madinah and graduate degrees in African History from the University of Toronto, Dr. Quick has combined deep Islamic learning with historical insight, community activism, and public education.


For decades, he has served as an imam, teacher, counsellor, lecturer, and community organiser across Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Africa, and beyond. His work has included Islamic education, social services, outreach, support for new Muslims, youth education, historical research, and the development of programs for diverse communities, including underserved and hearing-impaired audiences. He has also served as a senior lecturer at the Islamic Institute of Toronto and as Head of the History Department at AlMaghrib Institute.


MCC recognizes Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick for his lifelong service in preserving Islamic history, educating communities, building bridges, and inspiring Muslims to connect faith with knowledge, service, and social responsibility.

Through these Lifetime Achievement Awards, MCC expresses its deep appreciation for scholars, whose lives have been devoted to teaching, guiding, serving, and uplifting the community. Their work has shaped generations, strengthened Islamic learning in Canada, and left a lasting legacy for future Muslims to build upon.
